Local Membership is $25 annually


Members will be responsible for their own event expenses at meetings unless otherwise announced to the general membership by the Board of Directors.  When a set charge is required, this amount will be communicated to the general membership in program announcements.  If BCSHRM incurs charges on behalf of a member who fails to reimburse the Association within ten calendar days. The Board may take immediate action to terminate the membership and proceed with efforts to obtain payment.


Memberships in the chapter are personal rather than corporate.  
  1. Membership shall be open to persons engaged in the regular performance of professional responsibilities as they relate to the field of human resources.  Occupational titles for persons engaged in this type of activity may be variously referred to as Personnel Administration, Personnel Management, Human Resources Management, Employee Resources Management, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Temporary Services Management, Training and Development or Safety Management.
  2. Persons who demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Association a bona fide interest in the profession of Human Resources and the purposes, beliefs and value system of the Association shall not be other wise deemed ineligible for membership.  Occupational titles for persons engaged in this type of activity may be variously referred to as Small Business Owner/Managers, Instructors of Human Resources courses, Attorneys, Consultants, Executive Directors, Office Managers, etc.
  3. Persons who have previously met the qualifications for membership as outlined in provisions (1) and (2) and are not actively engaged in the field of Human Resources as the present time, but maintain a bona fide interest in the profession of Human Resources and the purposes, beliefs and value system of the Association, shall not be otherwise deemed ineligible for membership.
  4. Members must complete an application renewal each year and must satisfy the same requirements of membership as new members.

Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges of the Association, including the right to vote and hold elective or appointed office.  However, no more than two members of the same company may serve in a Board Member capacity at the same time.  In the event a Board Member changes employers during his/her term and such change in employment places three members of the same company on the Board at the same time, the Board Member who changed employment may continue in his or her capacity until the next election.  Committee Chairs, who do not otherwise hold a Board Members position, are not considered to be members of the Board of directors and therefore are exempt from this rule. 


Persons interested in affiliating with BCSHRM may make application ONLINE to the Board of Directors.


Members shall adhere to the standards of professional conduct as embraced by BCSHRM and agree to the following standards for membership and the renewal of membership application:
  1. Maintain the highest standards of professional and personal conduct.
  2. Strive for personal growth in the field of Human Resource Management.
  3. Support the goals and objectives for developing the Human Resource management profession.
  4. Encourage employees or clients to make the fair and equitable treatment of all employees a primary concern.
  5. Strive to make employers or clients profitable through support and encouragement of effective Human Resource Management practices.
  6. Instill in employees and the public a sense of confidence in the conduct and intentions of the employer or client.
  7. Maintain loyalty to the employer or client and pursue their objectives in ways that are consistent with the public interest. 
  8. Uphold all laws and regulations relating to the employer or client's activities.
  9. Refrain from using Association membership or a volunteer position to solicit business or secure special privilege for the employer, the client or oneself.
  10. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  11. Improve public understanding of the role of Human Resource Management.

No member may attempt to procure business during meetings.


No member, regardless of standing within the Association, may represent a statement to be that of the collective membership of BCSHRM without the express permission of the Association membership.  Agreement shall be determined by vote of a simple majority of members in good standing present at a regular meeting of the general membership or by written permission of 51% of the registered membership in good standing.


No member list or any other Association demographic information shall be released without the concurrence of a simple majority of the Members of the Board. Information, which may be required as a function of SHRM affiliation, may be released to SHRM without approval of the Board.  Any member may demand in writing on the membership application or membership renewal form that no demographic information regarding their membership be released.  Absence of written demand for exclusion shall be considered approval for inclusion.


Membership may be terminated for non-payment of subscriptions or events charges OR following a LAPSED MEMBERSHIP.  Membership may also be terminated for good cause by a 2/3 vote of the Board of Directors.
